Description:

The setting for the Blockbuster Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner, Old Wardour Castle is located in exquisite lakeside grounds. Built in the late 14th Century Old Wardour is one of the most romantic Castles in England. Originally built for John the fifth Lord Lovel, the castle is unique as it has six sides, remarkable for medieval architecture. The Castle had many purposes including being a secure house as well as a luxury residence for guests. Old Wardour was badly damaged in the English Civil War but was restored to its former glory by the Arundell family who continue it as a ruin when they established New Wardour nearby in 1776. Steeped in history, romantic, and delightful settings, a must see!
