Description:
St Mawes was built in the reign of Henry VII as a defense against invasion by France. The castle facing its sister fortress, Pendennis Castle across the estuary at Falmouth, is a fine example of Tudor military architecture. St Mawes is an idyllic setting for any function or wedding reception. The Castle offers fine views of Falmouth with stunning surrounding gardens and is located on the waters edge making it a must to visit. The main door of the circular keep display Henry VIII’s royal arms-a lion and a griffin, beyond this, receptions may be held in the mess room. St Mawes boasts a granite-walled room, distinctive fireplace and alcove windows looking out to the sea. For larger events, stylish marquees can be carefully positioned in the grounds obtaining the best sea views.
